Discover the benefits of Scar Therapy...

How can scar therapy help you?

Enhance Functional and Cosmetic Outcomes

Scar massage and home-care guidance can significantly improve the appearance and functionality of both old and new scars.

Reduce Sensitivity, Pain and Itching

Stimulating the scar area can normalise sensitivity, while using scar creams, oils, silicone, or gels can reduce itchiness.

Improve Movement

Encouraging movement between skin, fascia, and muscle layers can improve range and ease of motion, reducing the pulling and puckering of scar tissue.

Impact Scars and Fascia

Scar therapy stimulates changes in the scar tissue on the skin surface and in the underlying adhesions or fibrosis.

Promote Healing

Surgeons often recommend scar massage to promote healing, minimise long-term complications, and support overall recovery.

Improve Emotional Wellbeing
Therapeutic and holistic scar massage is a powerful way to help you accept your scars.

What is Scar Tissue?

Scar tissue forms after the healing of a wound or injury and differs in texture and quality from the original tissue, often being less functional. The appearance of a scar can vary based on the wound's size, depth, location, the person's age, and genetic factors. Abnormal scar formation can lead to functional and aesthetic issues.

What is Scar Therapy?

Scar therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses specialist massage, fascial release, and therapy tools to treat scar tissue, fibrosis, and adhesions. This therapy promotes healthy recovery, improving both the appearance and function of scars. It is holistic, addressing discomfort, pain, and overall mobility, and is most effective for scars less than two years old, though older scars may also benefit.

What Will Happen at My Appointment?

Your appointment will begin with a full case history and an assessment of the scar and surrounding area. Treatment will include specialist scar massage, creams if needed, silicone cupping, and after-care advice. This may be combined with other physical therapy techniques to address the broader impact of the scar. Treatment duration depends on the age and condition of the scar.
